Rest Well – “Rest in God alone, O my soul.” (Ps. 62:5). Lord Jesus, You know our restlessness better than anyone, because you often increase it to drive us to yourself. Thank you for holy disruption and Spirit-authored disquiet. Thank you for not letting anything or anyone satisfy us the way only you can. In you we have a redeemed past, present peace, and living hope. 7,000 Hallelujahs on this February Tuesday.
Savor Hope – “Hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts...” (Rom. 5:5). Jesus, this is so awesome—the hope you give us “does not” disappoint us. You didn’t say “will not” disappoint us. It’s a present reality with a fullness reserved for us. Our hope isn’t tied to being out of this broken world. It’s defined by Abba’s love already being poured into our hearts. Because of you, Jesus, God loves us as much as He loves you—no hyperbole, fine print, or strings attached.
Abide Forever – “Abide in me… As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love” (Jn.15:4, 9). Jesus, you are our permanent address and your love is the oxygen of our existence. We live from your love, not for it. Nothing, absolutely nothing is more important than living in rich fellowship with you, Jesus. Not occasional visits or sweet quiet times; not “summering” in you like in the Hamptons, Montana, or Vermont; not anticipating life with you in the new heaven and new earth… right now Jesus, we are to know, adore, and walk with you as our greatest good and deepest delight. Make it so Jesus. So Very Amen.
