“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” (Prov. 19:21); “People were overwhelmed with amazement. “He (Jesus) has done everything well,” they said. “He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” (Mark 7:37).
Lord Jesus, you do “everything well,” even when you don’t do everything convenient and copacetic to us. We plan (and we should), but your purpose will stand (hallelujah!). As I pray/write, I’m on the line holding for the good people at Delta Airlines.
The “perfect” 50th Anniversary plan—flying to Dublin last night, got interrupted by a storm front. I now sit in my favorite chair in Franklin, Tennessee, waiting on you. But by your grace, I’m also “sitting with you in heavenly places” (Eph. 2:6). There is no better place to be, sit, live, and trust than “in Christ.”
Jesus, you know what is best. You do what is best. You are the Best. Flying Sparrows and big jets are your domain. Deaf ears and soundless vocal cords are no challenge to you. For me and Darlene, and for the many who join me in this daily “Gospel-prayer-chapel,” we declare our love for you, and our trust in you.
You open and shut doors, and work in all things for your glory and for our good. Many of my friends are in far messier messes, dire-er straights, and harder storylines than our situation this morning. Grant big grace for my friends—big sovereign and sufficient grace. You’ve got our trip, and the conference I’m to speak at tomorrow, in your hands and heart. Thank you, and So Very Amen.
