“We who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly…” (Rom. 8:23). We will be “overjoyed when Jesus’ glory is revealed” (1Pet.4:13).
Lord Jesus, you have woven into our hearts a relentless, restless, redemptive ache. Thank you for doing so. It hurts, but it hurts good, because it is a work of the Holy Spirit—the “firstfruits of the Spirit” reminding us that the best is yet to come and that the mega-best is surely coming. Awesome appetizers in the wilderness are leading to a banquet and overjoy without measure and end. We’ll finally “get” what you meant by “beyond all we can ask or imagine” (Eph.3:20).
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Lately (really, for a long time) we’ve been whining like children at 2:30pm for our 7pm supper to be moved up. Jesus, we’re tired of the brokenness in us and all around us, so we increasingly cry out, “How long, O Lord?” Events of the past week(s) have only turned up the volume and frequency of our cry.
Though we’re tempted to settle for less—pacifiers and panaceas no longer work. We want you Jesus—we want you in all your goodness and beauty, and what you planned before the world began. So, on this Monday, September 15, 2025, we honor you as the Lamb of God, Prince of Peace, and King of kings—“the way, truth, and life,” our perfect righteousness and loving Savior—and SO much more. Until the Day of all things new and beautiful, satisfy with yourself and show us where we can best serve you. So Very Amen.
