Wow! Who knew a benediction could be crammed so outrageously full of gospel provision and promise! And from of all places, 2nd Thessalonians! Now be honest, when’s the last time you read 2nd Thessalonians, or even 1st Thessalonians? How I pray my daily doses of “gospel-sanity” propel you into a more consistent reading of the Scriptures, including the parts of your Bible where the gold can still be discerned on the edges of the lesser used pages! You never know what you might be missing.
Take the verses of the day for instance. They’re like a zip file of glory. In computer-speak, a zip file is a whole bunch of information crammed into a format that enables us to email massive missives through cyber space to one another at blazing speeds. However, once you’re received a zip file you gotta unzip it to use it. To get you started today on your “un-zippage”, take a brief look at what Paul is saying to us:
He is praying that we will have encouraged hearts and enough strength to act and speak today as those loved by God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who by grace, have already given us eternal encouragement and good hope. (Oh my!)
Anybody need some of that besides me? Let’s keep unzipping the Word all day!
