| | | On the Menu | | Food for Thought... | A NOTE FROM MELISSA AND COURTNEY | Prayer is simultaneously the easiest and the hardest thing to do. On one hand, it’s simply talking to God—anytime, about anything. On the other hand, it can feel complicated. Where should I pray? What should I say? Do I need to close my eyes? And the questions keep coming. What about you? When was the last time you prayed? Where were you and what did you talk about? Do you tend to pray out loud or silently? Do you have a regular rhythm for prayer? In this week’s episode of The Deep Dish, Melissa and I discuss ways to help structure your prayer life—not prescriptively, but practically. Our hope is to offer simple tools and practices that encourage you to cultivate a life of prayer, trusting that God hears and responds in his perfect wisdom and timing. And please scroll down to read the Global Dish—you’ll see prayer requests from a dear sister in Ukraine who will be greatly encouraged by your prayers. P.S.: Our Flourishing Faith cohort, which includes one week on prayer, is still open for on-demand access! | | Much love, Courtney and Melissa | | | | The Deep Dish LISTEN IN TO OUR LATEST PODCAST EPISODE | Kickstart Your Prayer Life Prayer is vital to the Christian life. The words “May your bad days prove that God is good,” became a prayer for me. — Betsy Howard | I love pancakes and have tried lots of recipes over the years to find the perfect one. These “pam-cakes” from Southern Living magazine are my all-time favorite! Their fluffy, buttery goodness can’t be beat. — Winfree Brisley | The story of Odysseus is haunting, tragic, and beautiful—and has had an outsized influence on literature for centuries. Before you see the movie later this year, I recommend reading it—but not in the original Greek. My favorite edition is Mary Pope Osborne’s Tales from the Odyssey. Aimed at younger readers, it’s both a quick, entertaining read and a faithful rendering of the original. — Sarah Zylstra | | | | The Global Dish PRAY FOR THE CHURCH AROUND THE WORLD Please pray for our Ukrainian sister Taisiia Lukich (she manages our TGC Ukraine and TGC Russia websites). Because of the war, she and her family only have heat and electricity for a few hours each day during one of Ukraine’s coldest winters in history. Tragically, she lost her fiancé in the war, and her mother is currently battling cancer. Despite these hardships, she writes, “No matter how difficult it may be, all of this builds character, gives inner strength, brings us closer to God, and motivates us to rely on Him even more.” She has asked that we pray for the war to end and for the Lord to continue to sustain them. Please join us in praying for Taisiia and her family. | | | | Pass the Plate | | Do you know someone who would be encouraged by this email? Forward it to her!
