If you’re like me, the slower rhythms of summer—including big chunks of time at the beach, lake, pool, or river—mean more time for reading books. Sitting by a body of beautiful water with a good book is one of my personal recipes for rich relaxation.

I have a bunch of books on my summer reading list: a few history books about the American Revolution, a book of poetry, and a John Muir book for my week in the Sierra. What’s on your list?

If you need any recommendations, TGC’s editorial staff has got you covered. Today, we published a list of 27 books you should read this summer. Nine members of our team share three recommendations each, making for an eclectic list sure to have something of interest for almost any reader. And if you’re a parent looking for quality books for your kids to read this summer, we’ve got a new list for that too!

So peruse these lists and pick up a few reads to pack in your summer pool bag or suitcase. Maybe find a last-minute Father’s Day gift idea for the dads in your life. Aspire to spend less time scrolling apps and more time reading books this summer—preferably in a chair outdoors, with an inspiring view.
