One of the temptations for evangelicals today is novelty. We think we need new methods, new tricks, new ways of pitching the gospel to make it relevant to the present zeitgeist. But as Megan Hill reminds us in the featured article below, what actually fuels our evangelism—in this and every generation—are the basics of our own spiritual health: knowing Christ, prayer, holiness, and church commitment. These aren’t flashy or new, notes Hill, but they are the spiritual supply God gives to equip us for evangelism.

We’ll explore this back-to-basics approach to evangelism at our upcoming 2019 TGC National Conference, April 1 to 3 in Indianapolis. Our theme is “Conversations with Jesus,” and we’ll look at the best model we have for evangelism: Jesus. How did he share his good news with individuals and small groups? What can we learn from these interactions? Featuring an impressive lineup of evangelists, apologists, scholars, and preachers, TGC19 promises to inspire us all to more fervent gospel proclamation. If you haven’t registered yet for the conference, do so soon—registration prices increase January 11. I hope to see you there!
