| I have a place in my heart for the Bible’s curious women—women who wanted to understand and who wouldn’t be satisfied with pat answers. Among them, the Queen of Sheba has always been one of my favorites. Sitting on her throne in her distant, southern kingdom, she heard King Solomon was a great theologian. And so she did what any curious woman would: she loaded up her camels and “came to test him with hard questions” (1 Kings 10:1). Solomon’s knowledge of the LORD hadn’t been exaggerated, and once she had asked (and received an answer for) every question she could think of, the Bible tells us “there was no more breath in her” (v. 5). After a lifetime of unanswered questions, the curious queen finally met extraordinary wisdom. The Queen of Sheba was one of Jesus’s favorites too. Speaking to the scribes and Pharisees (who posed questions to Jesus, but who weren’t curious in the least about who he really was), Jesus told them they should learn a lesson from the Queen. “She came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon,” he said, “and, behold, something greater than Solomon is here” (Matt. 12:14). After a lifetime of questions, we have an opportunity to meet true wisdom. And his name is King Jesus. In 2024, curious women from across the world are invited to come and find out more about the one who is Wisdom. TGC’s next women’s conference, Behold and Believe: Encountering Jesus as the Great I AM (June 20–22, 2024), will focus on who Jesus says he is and how the truth about Jesus answers all of our deepest questions. “I did not believe the reports,” the Queen confessed, “until I came and my own eyes had seen it” (1 Kings 10:7). Whether you’ve just started asking spiritual questions, or whether you’ve been growing in your knowledge of Jesus for years, please join us. The truth about Jesus is something you have to behold to believe. |
