On Sunday the CDC announced its recommendation that all gatherings of 50 or more people be canceled for the next eight weeks. Such drastic-but-essential measures will, among other things, cause great disruption for the church. What will this mean for Easter? How will small or under-resourced churches cope? Will congregational giving decline? The questions in your mind are scary, to be sure, but you are not alone in asking them.

We are in this together, and TGC is doing everything we can to be a resource to Christians and the church at this time. Our editors have been working hard to produce the best, timeliest content to serve the church in these unprecedented times. You’ll find all our resources on COVID-19 at a topics page that is updated with new resources daily. We also created a Coronavirus Resources Facebook Group (join here) to invite your collaboration as we pool resources, share best practices, and gather to encourage and equip one another in this rapidly evolving crisis. Especially if you are in ministry and feel overwhelmed, even demoralized, by the challenges of this season, I encourage you to join this group and work together.

TGC is no replacement for the local church, but we have always sought to serve the local church as an equipping resource. And that’s what we hope to be in the midst of this COVID-19 crisis. There’s no question the church will survive this—but we have faith that the church can even thrive in this moment, built as we are on the one foundation that will never crumble. Nothing can vanquish Christ’s church or undo the glorious truth of the gospel. May we be confident, as Paul was, “that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 8:38–39).
