Something’s wrong on the internet, says the punchline of a viral comic. In fact, there are a lot of things wrong with the internet! Those things range from the banality of how much time we waste on our phones to the unmitigated evil of child pornography. Contemplating just how much is wrong with the internet makes even someone like me, who earns a living from the internet, want to run away and get off the grid.

I was challenged by Brett McCracken’s words on a recent episode of The Gospel Coalition Podcast.

Christians throughout history stay put in spaces that are toxic, that are dangerous, whether it’s a leper colony or a plague-infested Roman city. They aren’t the ones to abandon ship when everyone else leaves or gets fed up and wants to preserve themselves. The Christians are the ones that stay and try to heal, try to bring light and redemption. And that’s my posture with the internet space.

In our work with TGC, we are trying to fight back against the darkness on the internet. Sometimes this means talking directly about it (see 4 Reasons Christians Should Support Banning Pornography and How to Become a Tech-Wise Family). But most of the time it means simply putting out gospel-centered, biblically sound content to counteract the unhelpful noise that floods the world wide web. This is what we intend to continue doing in 2020. We hope you’ll keep reading, listening, and sharing.
