| TGC exists to provide resources from the church, for the church. We’re committed to curating and pointing you to timely biblical truth and practical wisdom from trustworthy Christian voices, present and past. We do this to help you become wise in your own life and effective in your own sphere of ministry—whether in the church, home, academy, workplace, or some other mission field. I’m really excited about the latest resource we’ve released to advance this mission: the Best Commentaries project from The Gospel Coalition’s Carson Center for Theological Renewal. This resource leverages the collective wisdom of scholars and church leaders who have devoted years of their lives to training the next generation in biblical scholarship and expositional preaching. For each book of the Bible, we’ve asked these experts to compile an annotated list of the best commentaries available. Their recommendations are broken down into three categories for each biblical book: - Introductory Commentaries: For Sunday school teachers and small group leaders without advanced training
- Preaching Commentaries: For pastors and Bible teachers preparing to proclaim the Word
- Scholarly Commentaries: For academics and pastor-theologians
Whether you’re teaching young kids a lesson out of Exodus, preparing a sermon series on Hebrews, or researching a particular passage from a Pauline epistle, I’m confident you’ll be benefitted by the resources recommended here. And if there’s someone in your life who might benefit from this resource too, be sure to pass it along. May it be a blessing to biblical readers, teachers, preachers, and scholars everywhere. |
