| A few months ago, I got an email thanking me for a story I’d written about British author and speaker Andrew Wilson. It was from his parents, and I was charmed. I congratulated them on raising such a remarkable child. “We all ‘say’ it is the Grace of God, but with us – and our kids – we absolutely know it!” they wrote back. “In the 10 days before our marriage, as unbelievers, God broke into both our lives and gave us faith for the first time. Now we have four children, all with Christian spouses, going on with God and seeking to lead our 12 grandkids the same way. Only He could do that!” Immediately, I was hooked. “What?? You came to Christ 10 days before your wedding?” The more I dug into the Wilsons’ story, the more amazing it got, with connections to Britain’s loss of faith after WWII, John Stott, Dick Lucas, the Alpha course—and a Gideon’s fleece so bold that the man who laid it out hadn’t even told his kids about it. “Only with the benefit of 50 years, can we fully ‘see’ something of what God has done,” Charles Wilson told me after the article was published. “Grace in it all.” |
