| I normally write these newsletter introductions alone at my desk, but this time I’m scribbling out a draft while surrounded by more than 8,000 other Christian women at the TGCW24 conference. From the floor (literally) of the main hall, I’m about to hear the truth of Jesus Christ proclaimed once more. Notice I said the truth. Not my personal truth. All throughout this conference, we’ve explored the truth about Jesus—how he’s revealed in Scripture as the Great I AM. We’ve been encouraged to behold and believe what he says about himself. But our culture increasingly sees truth as relative, not absolute. Jesus may be your God, someone might say, But that’s not my truth. In an article last week, Trevin Wax explores how this development presents a challenge for sharing the gospel today. If we only talk about our faith as a personal religious experience, we’re missing the point of evangelism. Wax writes, “Our purpose isn’t to share something that works for us but to summon the world to worship the only true and living God.” Once we recognize this challenge, we’re more prepared to face it head-on. Read the article to find out Wax’s three recommendations for how to do missions and evangelism in an age of privatized religion. Even when it’s costly, an approach that rejects “for me” spirituality is the one that tells “the true story of the world.” CASSIE WATSON Copy Editor and Editorial Project Manager P.S.
