| In case you couldn’t guess, TGC’s editors love books. Earlier this week, our team had a discussion of Matthew Bingham’s A Heart Aflame for God during our regular meeting. Then, a few days later, some of us met to discuss the recent biographies of Elisabeth Elliot—just for fun on our lunch break. In between, another coworker and I texted about the memoirs currently on our nightstands (Edith Schaeffer’s L’Abri for her, David Chang’s Eat a Peach for me). Barely a day goes by that I don’t talk books with someone on the editorial team. All my coworkers value reading just as much as they value writing. (I’m biased, but I think they’re excellent editors as a result!) If you’re curious about what it’s like to talk books with a group of editors, we recently published a list of books we recommend for your own summer stack. These are the kind of fun, engaging, accessible books we enjoy poolside and on our front-porch swings. As books editor Spence Spencer wrote, “One of the best parts of summer when I was a kid was bringing an overstuffed backpack home from the bookmobile.” Maybe something on this list will capture that feeling for you too. A pile of treasures, recommended by friends, ready to be explored. PS: If this list isn’t enough, sign up for our books newsletter and get reading recommendations delivered to your inbox throughout the year. |
